johnny depp horror movies

As a horror movie fan, you may have come across several Johnny Depp films. If you are one of them, you've most likely enjoyed his performance in the animated film Corpse Bride. In the horror-themed comedy Sweeney Todd, Depp teamed up with director Tim Burton for two years. Earlier, Depp played Barnabas Collins in the classic TV series Dark Shadows and Guy Lapointe in the Kevin Smith films.

From Hell

The box office success of Johnny Depp's From Hell has come as a shock to most people. Though it is based on a Hammer horror movie, the film focuses on opium smoking detectives and scar-faced knife-wielding street gangs. The movie ends just short of newsboys shouting 'Extra! Read all about it!' and omitting a line about pea soupers. It is still an ominous rebuke to the horror genre.

The plot of the film revolves around the case of a serial killer - a former police detective named Jack the Ripper. While there have been numerous books and movies about him, the case has never been solved. This is perhaps the most compelling reason to see From Hell, a period crime movie by the Hughes Brothers. It's an atmospheric film, and the filmmakers call it a "ghetto film."

Dead Man

The box office numbers for Johnny Depp's Dead Man are stunning. It broke both Spider-Man's and Vincent Chase's previous records. The cast of Dead Man is both hilarious and ironic. Pop plays a cross-dressing preacher while Thornton plays a backwoods outlaw. Glover is a gutterpop vagabond. The film also includes many symbolisms, such as the train being a spiritual vessel.

Aside from Johnny Depp's superb performance, the film has several other excellent performances. Gary Farmer and Crispin Glover play great supporting roles. Lance Henriksen, John Hurt, and Robert Mitchum are all excellent. The last role in the film is played by Robert Mitchum, who gives a fantastic performance. The film is rated R for violence, graphic sex, and language.

The film is a strange, surreal movie that is a masterful example of the Jarmusch style. Its black and white visuals and soundtrack, accompanied by Neil Young's eerie score, give the film a dream-like quality. Yet, there's a profound message behind the film, which deals with the fragility of life. Blake, a mild-mannered accountant, travels by train to work at the bookkeeping firm run by Robert Mitchum. Unfortunately, his job is over before he's even begun. Now, he's being hunted, and his life force is ebbing fast.

The film is very different from the previous movies Jarmusch has made, but its stylistic departure from the western is evident. Despite its gloomy tone, Dead Man is a stylish and witty tale of a man's search for belonging. Its Western genre is an ideal vehicle for Jarmusch's work, but the movie is not without its flaws. Aside from the fact that Jarmusch uses the Western as its genre, the film also includes some explicit sexual situations, violence, and profanity.

Donnie Brasco

"Donnie Brasco" is a clever adult entertainment movie that follows the real-life story of a mafia enforcer who falls in love with a federal agent, and ends up marrying her. The movie's script is based on the novel by Tennessee Williams, and the real-life Donnie Brasco provided the source material and on-set assistance. It explores the contradictory world of the Mafia, including the harsh punishments for transgression, betrayal, and the promotion of a dead man's shoes. It also deconstructs the glamour and glitz that surrounds the mob and its members.

One of the more powerful moments of Donnie Brasco comes in the film's closing scene. A woman speaks to Joe (Depp) off-screen and says, "Let's go home." The last line is particularly chilling. The hoods believe his story and are swayed by his lack of affection for his wife and children. In the end, Donnie's family is placed in Witness Protection as a result of his misfortune.

While his role as Arnie earned him an Oscar nomination, Johnny Depp is the real star of the film. His likable performance as a down-on-his-luck man cares for his obese mother is the movie's heart. His brotherly dynamic with Leonardo DiCaprio is particularly touching. However, the movie is not without its flaws. While his work is mostly heroic, he has also taken on a real-life mobster in a variety of roles.

Donnie Brasco is based on a 1988 nonfiction book by Joseph D. Pistone. The film's premise is about the underworld life of a mafia enforcer. While the film has strong performances from the leading men, it does not break new ground or present a different way of telling a mob story. Instead, the film features many talented actors who play roles in other genres.

Sleepy Hollow

Based on the classic Washington Irving tale, Sleepy Hollow is an enthralling mix of fantasy, romance, and horror. The cast is outstanding, and Johnny Depp's performance is nothing short of brilliant. Read on to learn more about Sleepy Hollow and its stellar cast! Here are some of the movie's best moments. Let us begin with the trailer. A tense story, a terrifying villain, and a dazzling cast of characters...

This film is a Halloween favorite, with its haunted hayride, beheadings, and mood-setting music. The story is loosely based on the legend of Sleepy Hollow, and is worth checking out even if you're not into headless horsemen movies. The movie's low budget, passable special effects, and well-paced plot make it a worthy choice for Halloween viewing.

A series of five sequels is being planned for 2019, and a fourth will be released in 2017. While the original stories were based on a true story, Sleepy Hollow is an adaptation of a short story by Washington Irving. The film's characters are portrayed by the same cast, with Depp's actor playing the title role. The series' success is not surprising, but the sequel to the movie is even better.

Another film with a horror theme is the Indian movie Bhool Bhulaiya, which has a similar premise, but is directed by the same director. Although the movie is labelled as a comedy, it contains plenty of horror elements, much like Sleepy Hollow. Despite the similarities, the movie is a far cry from the low-budget Bollywood flick. Despite its high quality cast, Sleepy Hollow is not for everyone.

O Brother Where Art Thou

If you've watched the series "The Lord of the Rings" or any of the other Johnny Depp horror films, you've likely seen the twisted protagonist of "O Brother Where Art Thou." The film is a spoof of the famous 'Odyssey' story, and also stars George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson. O Brother Where Art Thou is a dark, supernatural thriller that is both a satire of the KKK and a horror movie.

As a satire on Greek mythology, O Brother Where Art Thou uses the classic Greek story of Othello to tell the tale of three bumbling convicts. The movie uses a blues score to underscore the characters' slapstick antics. The plot is based on Homer's "Odyssey" and "As I Lay Dying," and features one of Depp's best performances to date.

Another film with a Stephen King story is The Curse of the Black Pearl. It features a small-town Maine setting and an off-kilter Johnny Depp performance. In Secret Window, he plays a successful writer who is accused of plagiarism. Although this horror movie uses familiar whodunit elements, Depp delivers a memorable performance as writer Mort Rainey. Despite his deteriorating mental health, Mort is unable to produce any of his work.

The Coen brothers and Johnny Depp have a history of working with eccentric characters and could play Brad Pitt in O Brother Where Art Thou? or George Clooney in "Burn After Reading." Their previous collaborations with Depp have been both thoughtful and funny. While they are not as wildly successful as The Grand Budapest Hotel, the Coens could make a great horror movie together.
